MONADNOCK CONSERVANCY HIRES COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE
( KEENE)—Katrina Farmer, an experienced journalist and mass communication professional from Dublin, New Hampshire, has joined the Monadnock Conservancy as its first-ever communications associate.
Farmer brings a strong writing background, nonprofit and for-profit publishing experience, and a long-time passion for the region to the job. As a freelance writer and editor, she has worked with the Monadnock Institute of Nature, Place & Culture; the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation; and the Orion Society. Previously, she was associate editor at Yankee magazine.
Farmer holds a news-editorial Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is currently pursing a Master of Arts degree in English from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College.
She is an active member of her community, serving on the board of the Peterborough Folk Music Society and volunteering for the Peterborough Players and the Monadnock Institute of Nature, Place & Culture.
At the Monadnock Conservancy, Farmer will support efforts to communicate effectively with members, donors, trustees, partners, and the community at-large as well as increase public awareness of the organization in the region and at a state level. She will also be responsible for producing and editing content for the Conservancy’s newsletters and annual reports, and keeping content up-to-date on the Web site.
Founded in 1989, the Monadnock Conservancy is a non-profit land conservation organization that serves 35 towns in southwestern New Hampshire. Its mission is to identify, promote, and actively seek protection of significant natural, aesthetic, and historic resources in the Monadnock Region; and to monitor and enforce the protection of lands in the trust.
