M&T Bank Volunteer Day at Maynard Forest!

On February 27th, volunteers from M&T Bank in Keene, along with staff and committee members from the Monadnock Conservancy worked on trails and fencing at the Maynard Forest in Gilsum. Long-term research at Maynard has focused on beech control, assessing the impacts of deer browse on tree regeneration, and establishing a grove of hybrid American chestnuts. Together, the crew donated 25 hours to create trails that connect research plots, clear perimeters of fenced regeneration plots, and prune a chestnut tree.

The Monadnock Conservancy is indebted to these enthusiastic volunteers for helping us improve the forest for wildlife habitat and recreation.
